Blade Nano QX

The Blade Nano QX   Buy Now!  This neat little quadcoptor has a couple of neat features that make it awesome for newbies and kids. The fact that it’s under that $100 dollar price range doesn’t hurt either. One of these things is the built in rotor bumpers that allow you to bump into walls and what not without disrupting the propellers, so that you can keep on flying. (I call it the flying spider because that what it looks like to me-lol.) As a side note on the Hubsan x4, you can get a bumper to put on yourself that does the same function. The main difference just being that on the Blade Nano, it’s fixed and on the x4, it’s removable. This could be a negative or positive, according to who is primarily going to flying it. For instance, if a kid is going to be flying it primarily, I may go with the Blade so I know the bumpers are always on. Another feature, and probably the coolest for the inexperienced, is a feature called SAFE which stands for Starts Assisted Flight Envelope. The name is not that important but what it does is important. First, it puts limitations on the pitch and angles that can be done so that you get more of a stable flight. New flyers are like babies trying to walk. You know they be all wobbly and stuff, but if you put them in a baby walker, now they have stability. This mode acts as a “baby walker” for the Nano. It lets you focus on getting the controls down without exaggerated movements. The second part of this, which might be the most important,...

Estes Proto X

Estes Proto x   Buy Now!  This quadcopter is actually a pretty popular model and is the “micro machine” of drones! You know you guys remember micro machines. I couldn’t even play with those jokers because my fingers covered up the whole car-lol. Fortunately, this is not the case with this little guy. A very fun indoor drone, and despite its tee tiny size, happens to be a fairly durable and precise rc drone. On top of being tough for its size, it also is very stable, which is why it is so precise. The controller though, is some booty! I mean, I’m not sure what they were thinking when they made a controller so small that you would have to pull the “gumby shrink down” to use it. Seriously though, unless you have the baby hand of the butler from “Haunted House” it’s not the most useful transmitter on the market. However, there is hope people! This rc drone was produced by Hubsan before being re-branded by Estes, which means that you can use the Hubsan x4 controller instead! I hate for anyone not to have fun with Estes Proto x just because of the controller, so this is great information. If you don’t already have the Hubsan x4 and controller, no biggie. You can pick up the controller/transmitter separately for about $18. The Hubsan transmitter is not only bigger, but offers a few more features with the Estes Proto x, like being about to turn the lights on/off and do flips or tricks. This is a great quadcopter for indoor use, especially with the use of the x4 controller. You can pick up the Estes Proto x for $30! Read...
